CMS finalizes rule for Providers and Employers Improved Access to Information for Better Patient Care
“Increasing access to analyses and data that include Medicare data will make it easier for stakeholders throughout the healthcare system to make smarter and more informed healthcare decisions,” said CMS Chief Data Officer Niall Brennan.

Five Common Characteristics identified by OIG:

  1. episodes for which the beneficiary had no recent visits with the supervising physician;
  2. episodes that were not preceded by a hospital or nursing home stay;
  3. episodes with a primary diagnosis of diabetes or hypertension;
  4. beneficiaries with claims from multiple home health agencies; and
  5. Beneficiaries with multiple home health readmissions in a short period of time.
